Meeting Matthew was truly our lucky day! We were introduced at a party about a week after we bought an old wreck of a property in Porto. We had no idea just how out of our depth we were but throughout our project Matt has been as solid as the granite blocks from which our house is built. Not only is Matt a talented and inspired architect, his experience enables him to navigate Portuguese building regulations and authorities with assurance which was a huge asset to us as non-native property owners. Naturally calm and pragmatic in character, Matt was well able to manage any setbacks and alterations to the project as well as establish harmonious working relationships between the various contractors and ourselves. Matt did a great job of translating our vision for the project into final plans as well as challenging us to consider alternative materials or ways of doing things. We could not be happier with our beautiful home and we have no reservations in recommending our excellent architect, Matthew Salt.

Our project was an 18th century granite ‘caseiro’ house in the Minho which had been subject to some restoration work thirty years earlier, but needed reconfiguring, modernising and extending. Matthew patiently worked with us in presenting innumerable plans, and carefully managed the tender process to find the right contractor. He was attentive throughout the construction phase, orchestrating and documenting regular meetings with the contractor, and checking work undertaken. We also appreciated his help in identifying possible suppliers scattered throughout the region. We were delighted with the finished home which emerged.
